How To Create A Christ-Centered Morning Routine

morning routine

I think most of us will agree that mornings are probably the most hectic part of the day next to sitting around in 5-o’clock traffic.  We’re rushing to get ready for work (or to start the daily to-do list), scoffing down the quickest breakfast that we can find, trying to beat the rush on the highway, and if you have children then there’s no need for me to explain—hectic is more than likely the norm in your world. The tricky thing about mornings is that we have no earthly idea what we’re going to wake up to. We could wake up and find that the dog has chewed a hole in the carpet. We could wake up to a broken coffee pot (God forbid because I can’t even imagine). And more seriously, we could pick up our smartphones and find that an active shooter is locked inside of an […]

Adam’s Rib: The Christian Podcast For Women That You NEED To Hear

Adam's Rib Podcast

I love a good podcast. If it’s informational, uplifting and interesting, I’m here for it. A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon (and I use the term ‘stumbled upon’ very loosely because we all know that God has a way of orchestrating things) a fun, informational, uplifting, and interesting podcast that had me listening to episode after episode. Adam’s Rib is a podcast that was created two years ago by two Christian women, Lindsey and Jessica. These two ladies want nothing more than to see other women walk into the full life that God has designed for them. From the moment that I heard their playful exchange, I knew that there was something special about this podcast. In the 20 to 30 minutes that I spent listening to my first episode, I felt like I had just left a fun outing with my girlfriends. Make no mistake, the conversational style of […]

Equipped Series Pt. 1 | The Holy Spirit

The Word

When God placed human life on this earth He knew better than anyone else that life would be no walk in the park. Believe it or not, He intended for it to be that way. If everything was easy, how would we be reminded that we need him? Our dependence on God is central to our entire being. From the moment He banished Adam and Eve from the garden, from the moment He destroyed the tower of Babel, to the moment He sacrificed His own son, He has been trying to convey the same message: We need Him. Life is tough, there’s no argument there. But being the loving Father that He is, God has given us everything that we need to win in life, even in the difficult seasons, but we have to find our tools through Him. I want to start this series by talking about the tool that […]

Spiritual Survival Kit// Every Verse You’ll Ever Need To Know About Peace

Peace

So often we mistake peace for a feeling or a state of being when really, it’s a perspective. A perspective in which we keep our hearts and minds totally on Jesus and acknowledge that He is bigger than whatever is trying to disturb our peace . When we base our peace on our surroundings and the ebbs and flows of life, it’s easy to lose sight of it because it becomes just as fickle as situational happiness. But when we look to the only real constant in our lives and allow our peace to rest in Him, it becomes everlasting. So, who better to look to for answers about peace than Jesus himself? Here’s a list of scriptures on peace to add to your spiritual survival kit every time you need a reminder of where your peace really comes from. Finding Peace in Christ Philippians 4:6// Do not be anxious […]

5 Ways To Stay Spiritually Full Outside of Sunday Service

5 ways to stay spiritually full outside of sunday service

If you’re a Christ Follower, then you know just like I know that sometimes it can be pretty easy to get disconnected. Major life events come along or just the regular hustle and bustle of everyday life can come along and derail you from an amazing God-centered focus. Sunday mornings are great because it’s where we can all come together and hear an awesome word to prepare us for a new week but if we can be honest with ourselves, Sunday mornings are only a small part of our faith walk—at least they should be. So how do we ensure that we maintain that same spiritual motivation on Monday through Saturday that we have after Sunday Morning service? It’s up to us, not our pastors or spiritual leaders, to ensure that we are spiritually fed. I like to think of our spirits as ships. It’s our responsibility to make sure […]

7 Things You NEED to Guard Your Heart Against

7 Things You NEED to Guard Your Heart Against

As you progress in your walk, you to begin understand that Christianity is a ‘religion’ (and I use this word loosely) of the heart. Your heart is your most valuable asset because it’s what connects you to the Father; it’s what leads you to relationship with God versus meaningless religion. In life we’ll always have competing interests for our hearts like friendships, relationships, family, and money. God understands this. But there are some things that can take hold of our heart and push us away from Him. That is exactly why in Proverbs 4:23 He warns us to guard our hearts. Here are 7 things that you absolutely, no-questions-asked need to guard your heart against. 1.    Unhealthy/ Toxic Relationships I’ve heard it said that you become most like the five closest people to you and if you put some real thought into it, it’s so true. When we allow people […]
