Spiritual Survival Kit | Knowing When To Speak Up And When To Sit Down

when to speak

In today’s society, oversharing and saying exactly what you feel at the exact moment that you feel it has become the norm. I’m all for a good emotional cleanse and for keeping it real but from a Christian standpoint, there are times where we should speak up and times where we should probably have a seat. Whether you’re facing confrontation, trying to decide whether or not to post something on social media, or just deciding to pass on something that you’ve heard, it’s always a good idea to stop and consider whether or not what you have to say is really worth saying. I’ve seen this a thousand times (and I’m sure you have too) but here’s a great, short and sweet but powerful guide to help you think through what you want to say: T: Is it true? H: Is it helpful? I: Is it inspiring? N: Is it […]

Breaking Up With Conditional Kindness

unconditional kindness

Lately, God has been really dealing with me about the way that society has taught us to deal with one another. We’ve all seen the memes and the self-righteous Facebook updates declaring that from this point forward we should treat people the way that they have treated us or that maybe we should only do as much for others as they have done for us. I’m sure at some point or another I subscribed to this way of thinking but as a Christ-Follower, this way of thinking goes against everything that we claim to believe in. Within the last week or so, I’ve done a lot of observing and people watching. Guys, it’s amazing how often we react to the tiniest of things. 3 Easy Ways To Spread Love This Christmas Season

So, we are less than a week away from Christmas and like most of us, I’ve been busy with trying to get everything done. I’ve been concerned with Christmas dinner, with making sure that every gift is wrapped and marked, and if I can be honest—I’m tired. As an adult, the holiday season can be exhausting, stressful even, and it wasn’t until a few days ago that I realized that I had gotten caught up in the very thing that I criticize every year. Christmas has become so commercialized that we (myself included) have forgotten what Christmas is all about: love. Jesus’ birth was literally the embodiment of God’s love for us. I think it’s time that we all get back to the heart of the matter and make Christmas about love—genuine love that brings joy to the heart of Christ. I know everyone has their hands full so here […]

An Unfathomable Love

God's love

When I started thinking about what I would say in my first blog post I heard God say clearly, “Remind my people of my love”. My first thought was, “Well God, I kind of had something else in mind and…” Before I could even finish the thought I felt him tug on my heart. I obeyed. Not just because I respect the God that I serve, but because I know that he loves someone so much that he will lead them to this post at the exact time that they need it. That’s the kind of God he is and that’s the kind of love that he has for his children. Because we sometimes place conditions on our love like ‘until’, ‘unless’, or ‘if’, we have a hard time really grasping the idea of a true unconditional love. But God’s love is just that: unconditional. There’s nothing that we can do to make him reconsider because he genuinely […]
