9 Scriptures To Motivate You Past Procrastination

procrastination

I can’t even lie…five days out of seven I’m a procrastinator’s procrastinator. Usually, if I have an opportunity to get it done the day before it needs to be done, I’ll take it.  This is definitely not something that I’m proud of but it’s something that I am working to get better with and I’d bet that several of you reading this are probably working toward the same thing. I do a lot of different things to try to motivate myself past procrastination. I plan and write big, bold notes, I leave motivational quotes and sayings around my desk but nothing has proved to be more motivational or more impactful than the living word of God. I did a little research and although most us have always heard that procrastination is rooted in fear, Psychology Today published an article that lists a few more triggers that cause us to be ‘last-minute […]

The Importance Of Unplugging and Living In The Moment

live in the moment

We just celebrated another major holiday and I’m sure that if you were able to make it to any cookout or gathering, you noticed the exact same thing that I did. Almost everyone that had a phone was lost in it, scrolling through Facebook, posting on the ‘Gram and updating their Snapchat stories. How did we get here? When did proving to our social media audience that we had a good time become more important than actually having a good time? I love social media just as much as the next person but I’m afraid that if we don’t place more of an emphasis on living for the sake of living that even the most amazing things in life will start to lose significance. It’s actually kind of funny that I’m writing this today because I sound almost exactly like my husband, who has a real disdain for social media. […]

How To Create A Christ-Centered Morning Routine

morning routine

I think most of us will agree that mornings are probably the most hectic part of the day next to sitting around in 5-o’clock traffic.  We’re rushing to get ready for work (or to start the daily to-do list), scoffing down the quickest breakfast that we can find, trying to beat the rush on the highway, and if you have children then there’s no need for me to explain—hectic is more than likely the norm in your world. The tricky thing about mornings is that we have no earthly idea what we’re going to wake up to. We could wake up and find that the dog has chewed a hole in the carpet. We could wake up to a broken coffee pot (God forbid because I can’t even imagine). And more seriously, we could pick up our smartphones and find that an active shooter is locked inside of an […]

Adam’s Rib: The Christian Podcast For Women That You NEED To Hear

Adam's Rib Podcast

I love a good podcast. If it’s informational, uplifting and interesting, I’m here for it. A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon (and I use the term ‘stumbled upon’ very loosely because we all know that God has a way of orchestrating things) a fun, informational, uplifting, and interesting podcast that had me listening to episode after episode. Adam’s Rib is a podcast that was created two years ago by two Christian women, Lindsey and Jessica. These two ladies want nothing more than to see other women walk into the full life that God has designed for them. From the moment that I heard their playful exchange, I knew that there was something special about this podcast. In the 20 to 30 minutes that I spent listening to my first episode, I felt like I had just left a fun outing with my girlfriends. Make no mistake, the conversational style of […]

Achieving Life Balance God’s Way

life balance

Life is like a box of chocolates. Most days it’s a myriad of wonderful surprises and exciting opportunities just waiting to be consumed. Other days, life is like a box of chocolates that has somehow fallen over and it’s up to us to figure out how to separate the truffles from the coconut-filled and the strawberry cremes. Forrest Gump clearly left that part out. On this earth, life is a never-ending balancing act. We have to master the art of taking on just enough responsibility, maintaining a Christ-centered focus, taking care of our health, and serving others— and that’s not even the half of it. No question about it, the secret to a healthy and happy life lies in finding the right balance. As a girl that wears several hats, finding the perfect balance is a struggle that I know all too well. About a week ago, I started feeling […]

The Virtuous Woman Pt. 5 | She Takes Care Of Home

Virtuous Woman Trustworthy

Proverbs 31: 21-22 & 27 “When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. She makes coverings for her bed;     she is clothed in fine linen and purple.”  “She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.” Let’s be real for a moment—adulting is hard. No one really likes bills, errands, or folding laundry but they are all necessary annoyances that need to be taken care of to ensure that the wheel of life keeps moving. Can you imagine what life would be like if you had no clean laundry, no clean dishes, and you were facing a repossession of your car because you failed to make your payments? It would be difficult, to say the least. The Proverbs 31 woman knew this and she took pride in taking care of the affairs of her home. Take […]
