9 Scriptures To Motivate You Past Procrastination

procrastination

I can’t even lie…five days out of seven I’m a procrastinator’s procrastinator. Usually, if I have an opportunity to get it done the day before it needs to be done, I’ll take it.  This is definitely not something that I’m proud of but it’s something that I am working to get better with and I’d bet that several of you reading this are probably working toward the same thing. I do a lot of different things to try to motivate myself past procrastination. I plan and write big, bold notes, I leave motivational quotes and sayings around my desk but nothing has proved to be more motivational or more impactful than the living word of God. I did a little research and although most us have always heard that procrastination is rooted in fear, Psychology Today published an article that lists a few more triggers that cause us to be ‘last-minute […]

15 Easy Ways To Show Grace And Kindness This Week

If you had to rate on a scale from  1 to 10 (10 being the most) how much grace and kindness you’ve shown in the last few weeks, where would you be? A 5? A close 9? Wherever you may fall on the scale, I’m going to go ahead and guess that we all (myself included) have plenty of room to show more. For many of us, Monday through Friday, we’re so busy with life that stopping to think about giving more grace and kindness than we already give is almost unthinkable. But here’s the thing: Jesus is the embodiment of grace and kindness and if we’re going to be children of the Most High, we need to practice the same.  So, I want to give you 15 easy ways to show grace and kindness this week that will barely require any real work but will still bless you (and others) tremendously. […]

Tips For “Being Still” When Moving Is What You Do Best

being still

I have a confession: I’m a bit of a busy body. I like things done when I want them done, how I want them done, and I’m prepared to do it all on my own. This trait has been really useful in this age of digital DIY but let’s be honest, it hasn’t always been the best when God has needed for me to just stand still. I’ve faced it— I am a mover and sometimes standing still and trusting that God will come through in the timeline that I’ve envisioned is just downright hard. It wasn’t until my husband and I went to our pre-marital counseling that I learned the reasoning behind some of my behavior. Beneath all of the planning, the hyper-organization, and the desperate need to take initiative was a very real fear of failure. Even though I didn’t realize it, taking control was my way of […]

Spiritual Survival Kit | Knowing When To Speak Up And When To Sit Down

when to speak

In today’s society, oversharing and saying exactly what you feel at the exact moment that you feel it has become the norm. I’m all for a good emotional cleanse and for keeping it real but from a Christian standpoint, there are times where we should speak up and times where we should probably have a seat. Whether you’re facing confrontation, trying to decide whether or not to post something on social media, or just deciding to pass on something that you’ve heard, it’s always a good idea to stop and consider whether or not what you have to say is really worth saying. I’ve seen this a thousand times (and I’m sure you have too) but here’s a great, short and sweet but powerful guide to help you think through what you want to say: T: Is it true? H: Is it helpful? I: Is it inspiring? N: Is it […]

How To Build Your Confidence And Fight Insecurity

Confidence is one of those traits that we always admire and silently wish that we had more of. When we’re watching our favorite YouTube personalities, reality stars and bloggers, it seems like their level of confidence and self-assurance is so far out of reach but here’s the truth of the matter: confidence is a choice. Just like we choose to have faith and just like we choose whether or not we’re going to have joy in spite of our circumstances, confidence works in the same way. In every situation, we have a choice in whether or not we’re going to approach it with timid uncertainty or bold assurance. Let me start by saying this: confidence is not necessarily the absence of fear or reservations. Confidence is saying no to those thoughts or feelings that may be trying to keep you from moving forward and moving on boldly anyhow. Confidence, also […]

Equipped Series Pt. 3 | The Word

The Word

I want to end this series by talking about another really important tool that has been given to us but has been neglected and overlooked by so many: the Word of God. If you’ve been following this blog for any amount of time, then you know that I am an unashamed, unadulterated, Bible-believing Christian. The Bible is my instruction manual, my reference tool for any situation, and reading it is as important to me as brushing my teeth every day. At one point in my life, this wasn’t the case. I was one of those Christians that picked up the Bible whenever I felt inspired and my walk with Christ was just as fickle and inconsistent as my occasional desire to read the Word. The moment that I became inspired to make reading my Bible a priority was the moment that my life changed forever. Here are three truths about the […]

Equipped Series Pt. 2 | The Fruit Of The Spirit

The Word

In part one of this series, we talked about the Holy Spirit and how he is the ultimate helper and fundamental tool in our faith walk. He leads us, he guides us in truth, but aside from these things, there are a few more benefits of being filled with the Holy Spirit and we know them to be the fruit of the Spirit. I like to think of the Fruit of the Spirit as our ‘Holy benefits plan’. When we decided to believe in the death and resurrection of Christ and the gift of the Holy Spirit, we were given the amazing benefits of reconnecting with the author of all things good.  Throughout the Bible, there’s this theme of harvest and produce and the central idea is always the same: when you put good in, you get good out. When we choose to allow the Holy Spirit to operate in our […]
