Improving My Prayer Life in 2017

prayer life

Like most of us, my life is pretty busy. From the moment I wake up until the time that I go to bed, it seems like there is always something that needs to be done. I have always made it a priority to begin my day with prayer and seeking God through reading the word. I also make a habit of worshiping and talking to Him throughout the day but lately, it just doesn’t feel like it’s enough. There are days that I feel like maybe I haven’t covered enough ground and prayed over enough people or situations. There are also days that I look up and I’m like, God, I haven’t talked with you much today. I know in my spirit that this feeling is Holy Spirit asking for more from me and more is exactly what I’m going to give.

About a week ago, I came across a timely video from an awesome Christian vlogger and blogger named Steph on Twitter and it blessed my entire soul! In the video she gave a few thoughts on how to pray more and as I was watching the video, a huge light bulb went off for me. Anyone that really knows me can tell you guys that I am organized in everything that I do (okay maybe not everything, but the really important things—yes). I’m organized in my blogging, I’m organized in my home, I was organized in my assignments in college—why wouldn’t I be more organized in my prayer life? Steph talks about creating a prayer plan and setting alarms on your phone to pray for particular things during the day and although it sounds so simple, it’s so effective.

2017 is going to be an amazing year and I know that God has some amazing things in store. When He tells me to move, I want to be in place. I don’t want errands or just general business to get in the way. So, as I travel my way into the new year, I will be implementing prayer plans, setting alarms during the day to make sure that I’m praying for everything that He lays on my heart, and I will be intentional about it.
