Let me first start by saying that I’m a MAC girl. I love love love MAC’s makeup but let’s be real —it’s expensive. As a new stay-at-home mom, I’m always on the lookout for dupes and alternatives. It seems that every time I turn on the TV, I see a commercial about Maybelline’s Color Sensational Creamy Mattes. So a couple weeks ago I figured I would pick one up and give it a try. I’m a sucker for a lipstick with a matte finish but more importantly I like for it to be creamy so that I can avoid priming my lips. Here are my thoughts on this product:
I picked this lipstick up from Target for just under $6. Huge price difference compared to the $16 I usually pay for a tube of MAC lipstick.
The color that I picked up is number 665, “Lust for Blush”. From the look of the label, I thought that it would be more of a mauve color (a lip look that I’m really into right now) but when I initially put it on, it was more of a rosy pink. So I blended it with MAC’s ‘Burgundy’ lip liner to make the color a little darker to suit my complexion and achieve the look that I wanted. I had no complaints about the potency of the color. I thought it was comparable to any of the mattes from MAC and it was subtle enough to wear just about anywhere.
Texture and Longevity
This lipstick was definitely creamy! It glides on like a cream or frosted lipstick but has a perfect matte finish. I wore it for about 6 hours and it didn’t give my lips that horrible dry feeling nor did it rub off after drinking coffee and eating.
Overall, I would say this is a really good lipstick! It’s inexpensive and has the same effect that my MAC lipsticks have. I will definitely shop this collection the next time I’m looking for a new matte color before I buy a more expensive one. What are your thoughts on this lip color? Anyone else willing to give it a try? If you already have, how did you feel about the product?
