When I started thinking about what I would say in my first blog post I heard God say clearly, “Remind my people of my love”. My first thought was, “Well God, I kind of had something else in mind and…” Before I could even finish the thought I felt him tug on my heart. I obeyed. Not just because I respect the God that I serve, but because I know that he loves someone so much that he will lead them to this post at the exact time that they need it. That’s the kind of God he is and that’s the kind of love that he has for his children.
Because we sometimes place conditions on our love like ‘until’, ‘unless’, or ‘if’, we have a hard time really grasping the idea of a true unconditional love. But God’s love is just that: unconditional. There’s nothing that we can do to make him reconsider because he genuinely loves us for who we are, not for what we have done. So why is it that we start to question his love whenever we stray a little? Why is it that we try to find fulfillment in less “complicated” things that will never measure up to his love? Shame sometimes sets in and makes us believe that we have somehow lost his love but that is a lie. Through Jesus we are free of all condemnation [Romans 8:1]. God wants us all to be reminded of these things :
His Love is Unfailing
God’s love cannot fail. It’s impossible. As a matter of fact, He is love and love is him [1 John 4:8]. So when he says that he loves us and that he will never forsake us, he means it. Where we fall short in our relationships, God shows effortless perfection through forgiveness and grace. We may constantly disappoint one another, but God’s perfect love will never fail us.
Nothing Can Separate Us from His Love
The love that God has for us is present during every circumstance and phase of life, regardless of whether or not we are seeking him and regardless of whether or not we feel it. God’s love is not something that we earn; it is given to us only because of his grace. He sacrificed his only son, who is without sin, for men of a sinful nature. It was clearly not because we deserved it, but because he loves us enough to save us from an eternal death. The Apostle Paul says, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height not depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Jesus Christ our Lord” [Romans 8:38-39, NIV]. No matter what we do, nor matter what sin we commit, there is absolutely nothing that we can do to separate ourselves from God’s love. He is with us always.
He Loves YOU
There are billions of people on this earth but God loves us all individually as though we are his only children. Luke 12:7 says, “Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows” [NIV]. I always hear people say that there’s nothing like a mother’s love, but I could honestly never tell you about every single birth mark, scar, or freckle on my children. So how much greater is God’s love for us that he can account for every hair on every head of all his children? He took his time and fearfully and wonderfully created us in his image like masterpieces [Psalm 139:14]. To him, each of us is one in-a-million.
Life is complicated and ever-changing. God’s perfect love is the one constant that we can count on because he is the same yesterday, today, and forever.Be encouraged and bask in his love, knowing that to him, you are precious and that you are MORE than enough. He adores you.
It’s so easy to forget how deeply he cares for us when we’re just going through the motions of life. Anyone else need a reminder from time to time? What are some ways that God has shown you how much he loves you lately?
